The painter Hermann Hodler studied at the Arts Academies of Dresden and Munich and traveled extensively in Italy. He was a teacher at the school of applied arts in Bern.  Large format oil on canvas.  Hermann Hodler was a distant relative of the much more famous Ferdinand Hodler, with whom he was in occasional contact.
