Johann Heinrich Troll

(1756 – Winterthur – 1824)

The Swiss painter and printmaker Johann Heinrich Troll studied with Christian von Mechel in Basel and Adrian Zingg in Dresden. He traveled extensively throughout Europe. He is best known for his landscapes.

Aquatint engraving of the Vierwaldstaettersee (Lake Lucern).

Condition: Some creases and small repairs. Paper has browned and is lightly soiled in a few spots. A very striking image.
