Frau Ringgli
The Preachers's Wife

Portrait of Regina Barbara Ringgli, the Preacher's wife
Oil painting on tin plate, Circa 1800, shows a woman full of character, with a wry expression on her face, as though she finds this process of sitting for her portrait rather silly and amusing and cannot entirely take it seriously.

A note on the back indicates that Regina Barbara Ringgli lived from 1749 to 1829, that her maiden name was Martin, and that she was married to the Minister Conrad Ringgli.

Dimensions: 29 X 24 cm
