Frau Ringgli
The Preachers's Wife
Portrait of Regina Barbara Ringgli, the Preacher's
wife
Oil painting on tin plate, Circa 1800, shows
a woman full of character, with a wry expression
on her face, as though she finds this process
of sitting for her portrait rather silly and
amusing and cannot entirely take it seriously.
A note on the back indicates that
Regina Barbara Ringgli lived from 1749 to 1829,
that her maiden name was Martin, and that she
was married to the Minister Conrad Ringgli.
