Karl Schenk

Karl Schenk (24.10.1905 Bern -- 14.12.1973
Bern) was a painter and sculptor known in particular
for his portraits of well known Swiss politicans
and military figures.
His images of children done during the later
part of his career are particular popular in
Switzerland and fetch high prices at auction.
We personally prefer Schenk's earlier work --
of which this is typical -- in its sculptural
quality, strong earthen tones and hints art
deco influence.
This painting is perfectly accented by a massive
wooden frame in matching autumn tones.
