Unusual Chair
with Mother of Pearl Inlay
This highly decorative chair has mother of pearl inlay, engraved panels with Roman scenes on the seat and back engraved into bone, and intricately carved legs in the shape of two reclining Sphinxes.
We believe this chair dates to the late 19th or early 20th century and is most likely Middle Eastern in origin, perhaps from Damascus.
Condition: Very good. There is one crack across the back portion of the seat which has been very evenly repaired.
