Matthaeus
Merian the Elder
Liestal, Switzerland
Copperplate engraving rom"Topographia Helvetiae, Rhaetiae et Valesiae." by Matthäus Merian / J.J. Ringle circa 1642.
Liestal is the capital of the Basel-Country (Basel-Land) Canton of Switzlerand. Liestal is a sister city with Sacramento, California.
The Sammlung Ryhiner at the University of Bern owns an example of this engraving.
Condition: There is a light band of discoloration running through the center of the print. This band is much less noticeable to the naked eye than it was under the scanner and hence in these images. (light crossing through the print accentuated it). Some repairs and patching to the margins of the sheet.
Image size (Platemark) 21 X 32 cm
