(1790 Thurgau - 1855 Andwil)

 

Famous socially engaged Swiss teacher who served as the director of the School of the Poor in Hofwil near Bern. The school combined learning and physical work on the farm.

 

Wehrli is known as one of the pioneers of popular education in Switzerland.

Large 19th Century engraving by Eduard Steiner dated 1847.

 

Dimensions: 21 X 16 inches

 

Condition: The sheet is spotted in the margins, but clean in the engraved center.
